This article introduces a dialogue between economic law and economic-administrative sciences by integrating quantitative legal methodologies into foreign trade analysis. It focuses on three critical dimensions: trade dependency, export concentration, and vulnerability to external shocks, demonstrating how classical economic metrics such as the Herfindahl-Hirschman Index (HHI), CR4 concentration ratio, and a light shock analysis can enrich legal discussions concerning the autonomy and resilience of emerging economies. Using Mexico (2000–2024) as an illustrative case, this study highlights the analytical value of incorporating quantitative indicators into the study of economic law. It contributes to epistemological discourse by positioning quantitative methods as a common analytical language in a context of heightened global volatility. The findings support precisely targeted legislative recommendations for trade law reform, and underscore how quantitative methods provide a shared analytical framework for disciplines engaged in international trade, recognizing that such trade is ultimately governed by legal rules and norms that, like trade itself, are in constant transformation.
