Abstract

This article analyzes the potential of generative artificial intelligence, particularly ChatGPT, as a tool for enhancing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Based on a qualitative, analytical-descriptive approach grounded in document review, the study examines the structural limitations faced by SMEs and the opportunities offered by emerging technologies. A conceptual analytical framework is proposed, structured around four key dimensions—operational, strategic, communicative, and adaptive—which allows for a comprehensive understanding of ChatGPT’s impact across organizational levels. The findings suggest that the value of this technology lies not only in task automation, but also in its ability to amplify capabilities, improve decision-making processes, strengthen market interaction, and foster organizational learning. However, its effective utilization depends on strategic integration into business processes and the development of internal competencies. In this context, generative artificial intelligence emerges as a key driver for the transformation and competitiveness of SMEs in digital environments.
